Yesterday we looked in to the future of the Indiana Hoosiers offense for 2015. As important as that group has been, a defense that shows improvement from the bottom depths of the Big Ten can be equally as important to the first goal of the season — make a bowl game.
This is year two of Brian Knorr and his 3-4 defensive scheme, and that means a big jump in productivity is expected. Knorr has at least one class of players he sees fitting his system under his belt and he’s got an interesting mix of players back for this upcoming season.
Some players could breakout to be stars, others have to step in to some big shoes to fill. No matter what, this group as a whole needs to be much better than it was last season. The Hoosiers defense can’t continue to rank at or near the bottom of nearly every major defensive stat category if it wants to compete in the Big Ten.
Will this group grow up quickly or will it cost this team a chance at a bowl game? Let’s find out what the 2015 IU defense looks like.
